Pay As You Go
Pay As You Go has no monthly fee. Every AI feature is available but billed based on actual token and usage costs – you only pay when AI activity happens in a sub-account.
This works well for sub-accounts that are inactive or in early setup. Once a sub-account is live with real client activity, usage costs accumulate quickly and the predictability of a flat plan usually becomes more attractive.
Token and usage rates vary by feature. For current per-use pricing on Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Agent Studio, and other tools, refer to HighLevel’s official AI pricing documentation. Telephone charges are billed separately (for Voice AI).
Best for: Sub-accounts in setup or testing phases, or very low-volume accounts where AI activity is minimal.

Best for: Sub-accounts that are newly live with AI agents running at low-to-medium volume. The 1,000 Conversation AI responses and 100 Voice AI minutes give a newly onboarded client account enough runway to demonstrate real results before deciding whether to move to the Unlimited plan.

Which Plan Is Right for You?
The right plan depends on where a sub-account is in its lifecycle – not on your agency’s overall size.
Use Pay As You Go when: A sub-account is in setup, testing, or early onboarding. No client activity yet means no AI usage, so a monthly subscription adds cost without benefit. Switch to a paid plan when the account goes live.
Use AI Employee Growth ($50/month) when: A client sub-account is newly live and running AI agents at low-to-medium volume. The 1,000 Conversation AI response and 100 Voice AI minute allocations are enough for most newly onboarded accounts. The flat $50 gives predictable billing while the account builds momentum.
Use AI Employee Unlimited ($97/month) when: A sub-account is actively handling real client calls and multi-channel messaging at scale. If Conversation AI is responding to leads across SMS, Instagram, and web chat simultaneously, or Voice AI is handling inbound calls consistently throughout the day, the 1,000-response and 100-minute caps become real ceilings. The $97 flat rate removes those ceilings and adds Voice AI Outbound and Voice AI Widget – features the Growth plan doesn’t include.
The agency math: For an agency running 10 active client sub-accounts on AI Employee Unlimited, the total AI subscription cost is $970/month before text and call charges. That’s the number to build into your client pricing and rebilling structure. What’s Never Included
Regardless of which plan you choose, these costs apply separately on every sub-account:
Agent Studio – always pay-per-use on all three plans. Billed based on model usage, searches, and multimodal AI actions including image, video, text, and speech generation.
Text and call charges – phone system and SMS costs are separate from AI billing. Voice AI calls use both AI minutes (covered on paid plans) and LC Phone system charges (always billed separately).
Carrier fees – A2P 10DLC and carrier pass-through costs apply to any SMS messaging regardless of AI plan.

Is the AI Employee plan billed per agency or per sub-account?
Per sub-account. Each sub-account you enable for AI is billed independently at the plan rate you choose for that account. You can mix plans across sub-accounts – some on Growth, some on Unlimited – depending on the activity level of each client account.
What happens when a sub-account hits the Growth plan limits?

Voice AI Outbound is included on the $97 AI Employee Unlimited plan. It is not included on the $50 AI Employee Growth plan. On Pay As You Go, Voice AI Outbound is billed at per-use rates. Phone system charges apply separately on all plans.
Can I rebill AI subscription costs to my clients?
Yes. HighLevel’s rebilling tools allow you to pass AI subscription costs through to client sub-accounts at cost or with a markup depending on your plan tier. Agency Pro is required for markup rebilling. Unlimited plan users can rebill at cost only.
Is Agent Studio included in any plan?
